It took only one day for the developers of the underwater robot OpenROV to collect the $ 20 thousand they needed to start production of the designer via Kickstarter.
This is not surprising: the project is really unique. Just imagine: anyone can buy a set of components and build their own submarine. As an option, the parts can be machined by yourself, the assembly diagram and drawings are published in the public domain: parts , software on github .

The small OpenROV submarine has a size of 30 x 20 x 15 cm, weighs about 2.5 kg and is capable of sinking to a depth of 100 meters. Battery lasts for 1-1.5 hours of work.
All electronics are hidden in a moisture-proof housing in the center of the robot. The device is driven by three 800kv motors: two in the horizontal plane and one in the vertical.
The assembly kit with all the electronics and motors can be pre-ordered for $ 725, the finished robot assembly - for $ 1200. For a modest sum of $ 220 sold a set of parts for the body and chassis, without electronics and motors. The start of sales of the designer is expected in September, ready robots - in November.
