July update. Tracker
The most important innovation of this announcement is the tracker - what you asked for so long and what we ourselves have wanted for so long. A few months ago, this useful thing appeared in test mode on Avtokadabr (which is also getting prettier every day) - after watching the results, we decided to adopt this experience on Habr.
From today, all registered users (including ReadOnly, but with limited settings) have a link “ Tracker ” in the top menu of the site, near which green digits will almost always be lit. They indicate the presence of new activity in those categories that interest you - be it articles, comments or users.
The “ Posts ” tab displays, as it is easy to guess, those publications that have new comments. Not just all the posts in a row, but those whose authors you are, in which you wrote a comment, added to favorites, and so on - we advise you to customize the conditions for getting posts to the tracker on the profile settings page. You can add a post to the tracker using the " t " key (on the publication page), and the " m " button will send new comments to the post to the post.

The second tab, " Subscribers ", displays information about the people you have subscribed to (which were once added as friends) - to always know that your friend published a new post, added something interesting to your favorites, or was about to go for some event .
On the last tab of the tracker, all references to you anywhere will be displayed - in posts, comments, events and so on.
The tracker is very convenient and at the same time it works extremely simple - try once and you will understand everything. Now you are unlikely to miss something important.

Surely you have already received email notifications that some user has subscribed to you - agree that this is a trifle, but it's nice. The fact is that we have eliminated the friendship - now, instead of it, a trend subscription.
So all references should be regarded not as spam, but as the fact that in the community you are interesting to someone from the users and they are interested in “watching” you. Subscriptions are made via the corresponding button in the profile.
