Linux Foundation collaborates with the Japanese government
The Linux Foundation has announced a new joint agreement with the Japanese Information Technology Promotion Agency (IPA), a state-owned research institute that helps develop information technologies and strongly supports the use of open standards and open source software. The agreement is part of a mutual assistance plan to promote open standards and accelerate the adoption of open source software in Asia. The Linux Foundation will participate in the upcoming IPA Forum 2007 User Conference in Tokyo.
Thus, the government makes it clear that it relies on open technology, which will play a key role in reducing costs. Analytical company Gartner assumes that by 2010 more than 60% of large and medium state organizations in Asia will use open software in the most important components of their activities.
