In Carnegie Mellon created a storekeeper robot

Scientists from the University of Carnegie Mellon created a robot that is able to perform the role of storekeeper. Such a robot, according to the developers, can be useful for shops, warehouses and other similar organizations. In this case, as you can guess, all the work is done automatically, so now there are no rumors about recounting the products - the robot will find and calculate everything.

Works AndyVision, so called the robot using the sensor Kinect, as well as specialized software for image analysis. The robot is also equipped with software that allows AndyVision to learn. Before starting to recalculate things, the robot drives through the warehouse, creating two and three-dimensional images of products, comparing all this with the floor plan.

After such a miscalculation, the robot analyzes the quantity of goods, and shows which goods are sufficient and which need to be added. in order to get the necessary information from the robot, you just need to read what AndyVision will “dump” on the tablet, in a form that is convenient for reading. Among other things, the device is even able to determine whether the goods are placed correctly.

Now AndyVision is undergoing an “internship” at a university campus store. Perhaps next year AndyVision will appear in the stores and warehouses of different companies.
