From July 1, the Moscow region switches to 10-digit phone numbers. Since Sunday, MGTS has been transferring all PBXs to a full set of numbers, including the area code, so besides the home number, Muscovites you know will now also need to ask the code, which, depending on the zone, will be 495, 499 and 498.

Such a turn of events is connected with the 100% introduction of digital PBXs into operation, as well as with the decision of the Ministry of Communications, which has its roots in 2009. Despite the fact that MGTS calls the improvement of communication quality the advantages of such a solution, it also has indisputable drawbacks: in particular, in many lean organizations, dialing eight numbers is blocked, and in this case it will no longer be possible to call from fixed phones. Otherwise, if the eight is unblocked, long-distance and international calls are possible, while setting filters for codes 495, 498 and 499 is not easy.

Update: According to the information specified by the operators, dialing from mobile phones via "+7" will work as before: there is no need to edit all contacts to the number via "8"
