Google considers Chrome to be the most popular browser in the world.
This year, more than once there was news that Chrome has become the most popular browser in the world. This news caused criticism, because each analytical company uses its own methods for counting. Nevertheless, the corporation itself is already convinced that Chrome is indeed the most popular browser. This news was reported by Sandar Pichay, Senior Vice President, Chrome and Google Apps.
In order to emphasize the importance of this news, Google has made a video illustrating the development of the browser since its launch in September 2008 to this day. Pichai claims that the number of Chrome users worldwide has already reached 310 million people. Unfortunately, the source of such interesting information remained unknown: neither Pichai said where the information came from, nor did the video say so.
According to statCounter, an analytical company whose data are often published on Habré, Chrome now owns about 32.68% of global traffic. As for IE, this browser generates 32.05% of traffic. So perhaps Google’s statement is true. As for StatCounter, the data shown by this company was collected from approximately 3 million sites, and on the basis of the information received, a conclusion was drawn on the global situation with the share of browsers. ')
But Net Applications, another analytic company, shows slightly different data. The most recent Net Applications report states that IE ranks first with 54% of the desktop browsers market, while Chrome and Firefox hold 20% each. And Safari, according to the same company, ranks first in the mobile sector (smartphones and tablets). As you can see, both analytical services use completely different criteria to determine the leader.
And yes, Microsoft, which is logical, uses Net Applications data, claiming that IE is the most popular browser.
