It remains only to learn how to read information from them. The first thing that comes to mind is sensitive gloves. But there is a better option - a ring that picks up the sound of friction of the fingers. Supposedly, it should dress on the right middle and be similar to this Wikipedia image.
The principle of operation is as follows. From the sound, patterns of movements (touches and slides) are distinguished and recognized, which should be quite feasible with the current state of AI. But patterns are not everything. Why not go ahead and make a full-fledged interface for manipulating multidimensional data. A natural and intuitive abstraction is a two-dimensional sheet - screen.
And we have as many as 4 fingertips suitable for this role, and a thumb as a pointer. But the mouse had a scroll. And he didn’t go anywhere, ran his index finger along the inner side of the big one, so here you are and scrolling. In addition, you can come up with many special gestures. Clicking, for example, can open a search.
You can connect the ring to the parent device, such as a phone or tablet, using bluetooth protocol. Also, this device can take over some of the calculations or store patterns. Although, if the phone is changed every few years, and the ring is much less common, then it is more correct to store the patterns, and therefore do most of the calculations on it.
The main problem is nutrition. Hence the main limitation on computational capabilities, and not at all because of the small size, as it might seem. Its possible solution is to charge from vibrations or an incoming signal (like some RFID), and there is also wireless transmission of electricity .
Of course, the device must be personalized, customized for a specific user. But in unusual conditions, these settings will not be relevant. Here will help automatic profile selection.
