The company
Gibson has released a guitar with built-in automatic tuning Powertune, developed by
Tronical . Thanks to the unique technology, fine tuning of the guitar has now become available not only to professionals, but even to musicians who are not sophisticated in music, novice guitarists. Moreover, Powertune can be useful for professional musicians, as it allows you to store several different settings in memory at once. Thus, you will not have to spend time adjusting the instrument to perform various compositions.

The Powertune device consists of piezo-electric frets (they are also reading elements) located under the strings, a central unit with a processor and a software part responsible for signal processing, and servomotors that regulate the position of the jibs and, as a result, the tension of the strings. The whole thing is located in the guitar case, and in no way affects its sound characteristics (otherwise, Gibson would clearly not pay attention to the device).
The setup process takes place in several stages. First you need to turn on the system, just tune a pair of chords on the guitar so that the sensors located in the frets determine the frequency of vibration of each string separately. Further information is transmitted to the central module and processed. After that, with the help of the servos connected with the pegs, the strings are tightened or weakened. In accordance with a given (ideal, according to the developer) sound frequency.
It is noteworthy that the device allows you to store in memory several different settings, which will be useful for many musicians who perform different compositions on the same instrument, which require different sound settings.
The technology has only one minus. There is a device on its basis $ 899. And in practical terms, the appreciation of the already cheap Gibson guitars is almost a thousand more - that’s another question.
