MySpace will take on Russia

Almost nothing escapes the attentive eyes of the Internet public. The vacancy posted on LinkedIn by MySpace UK did not escape either. The world's largest social network is looking for, no less, a marketing director, who will popularize MySpace in Russia. Despite the fact that no official statements on this matter have yet been made, and market players, in general, do not quite understand what they are talking about, the list of duties that will be assigned to the applicant is quite impressive.

In the explanation to the vacancy it is said that the director will have to establish and develop relations with the media, engage in advertising and organize various PR events. All this is in order to strengthen and make the MySpace brand recognizable in Russia in all the niches that are popular among the users of this social network (music, television, sports, other entertainment and lifestyle), and, ultimately, expand the base of Russian-speaking participants.

Each area of responsibility, namely brand promotion, content acquisition for entertainment channels, communication with the business and its involvement in the network, relations with the press and PR, assistance to the sales department and online marketing, includes a number of private tasks. To believe that all this is within the power of one person is like believing in the existence of Superman, so he will obviously be recruiting the local team himself. The requirements for such a person are quite expected: 7 years of consistently successful career in entertainment marketing, a clear understanding of strategies for interacting with partners, excellent organizational, communication, public speaking and management skills, as well as (apparently, just in case) possession of Microsoft Office.

So far, for a week now, the vacancy is free. But we can safely say that a suitable candidate will be found. Should we expect shocks with the arrival of such a heavyweight on our open spaces? dolboeb Anton Nosik, who commented on this news for us, believes that it’s too early to worry. According to him, solve MySpace seriously build in Russia, for a start, they would not hire a marketing director, but rather a localization specialist, and would set several different tasks for him. He believes that while MySpace’s goal is to “attach” already existing Russian-language traffic, correctly transforming it into profit, although it admits that it is too early to draw any reasonable conclusions, since “neither we nor they know who it will be director.
')
However, on the whole, it seems that everyone will be happy about the arrival of MySpace, because we still don’t have anything so comprehensive and so deeply penetrated into everyday life. Both Mr. Nosik and valez Valentin Lyubimov from Liveinternet speak about this, who is glad because "the more blogs, the more bloggers, the higher the users' online education, the more our industry and, including, our diaries service."

Well, wait for the official statement. In any case, not to notice it will be difficult. In the meantime, let me remind you that you can respond to the vacancy from this page .
