Somehow, imperceptibly, Google has become one of the world's largest advertisers: in 2011, global advertising costs for Internet companies doubled to
$ 1.5 billion , and if you add the advertising budget of the acquired Motorola Mobility Holdings, you get $ 2.104 billion. from the point of view of logic, this is a paradoxical fact, because Google owns the largest advertising platform. Youtube can be viewed as one giant television channel, the largest in the world. Despite this, the company spends 4.1% of its revenues on advertising, and this share continues to grow.
Imagine that the most popular TV channel in Russia (some “First” channel) begins to advertise its services on all the other small TV channels, including “Dozhd” and Russia Today. Agree, it would look weird. But something like this is done by Google, trying to convey its message to absolutely all users.
The AdAge publication
writes that in 2011, Google first hit the top 100 largest advertisers in the United States, jumping directly to 34th place. This is the second year in a row when Google doubles its advertising budget: the same was observed in 2010.
