Danny Sullivan told how he tried to touch the Microsoft Surface

Well-known journalist Danny Sullivan (founder of SearchEngineLand) made a statement exposing all the “Microsoft Surface Reviews” that are now published on the Internet. The authors of these reviews pretend that they actually used the tablet. Danny Sullivan argues that this is impossible: he describes in detail how Microsoft organized the "acquaintance of journalists" with the gadget.

First, everyone was given a card with a visit to the room where the Microsoft Surface tablet was stored. Journalists were led there in small groups, and were told in advance that it was forbidden to touch the tablet. Only if you strongly ask, did the presentation of the PR-specialist Microsoft allowed to take the tablet for just a few seconds, then immediately took it back. The keyboard was not connected to the tablet at all, but was given only a separate look.

Danny Sullivan says that between the presentation and the trip to the room he had to wait more than an hour, he read Twitter and noticed that numerous users point to the absence of such an important parameter as screen resolution in all Microsoft materials. Danny decided to find out. After long requests, he was given a tablet, and he quickly began to press: the Windows button to exit to the start menu, the Desktop button to display the Windows desktop, there was a long press to bring up the context menu - at that moment they took the tablet with the words “ Good trick.

The tablet was shown without a keyboard, so that no one could check it in action. Danny Sullivan does not understand how to publish hands-on reviews if the author of the review worked with the device for no more than 10 seconds and had no opportunity to form an opinion about it.

PS Sullivan's story and the ban on touching the tablet causes vague associations with the work schedule of the Apple Store, where the opposite is true. There, every morning, employees bypass the windows and set the angle of inclination of the MacBook displays at exactly 70 ° ; they use the program on the tablets to measure the angle. This is considered to be the most inconvenient viewing angle: every visitor will immediately pull his hands to the laptop to tilt the display more comfortably. And as soon as he touches it - the goal is achieved. By the way, for the same purpose on the demo laptops a bunch of programs are pre-installed and there is a connection to the Internet. The main thing is that the user touches and starts working with the device.
