The other day an interesting report on the price dynamics of SSDs was published. The price of SSD after the flood in Thailand, which led to the failure of the main production capacity of enterprises that created components for hard drives, at the same time affected the cost of SSD-drives. Such information carriers have become cheaper, in contrast to their "mechanical" counterparts.
In addition to flooding, prices are also influenced by permanent competition between the major manufacturers of SSDs, including Intel, Samsung, Corsair, and OCZ. The average fall in prices for SSD-drives over the past year amounted to 46%, if we take the total fall for all popular manufacturers. Such a sharp decline in the cost of solid-state drives manifested itself for the first time in the entire lifetime of the SSD in the information storage market.

Now, eight popular models are experiencing a decline in value below the limit of $ 1 per 1 GB of available volume. There are models with a higher price / volume ratio, but these are rather premium models rather than low-end SSD models. Reducing the price of solid-state drives with a simultaneous increase in the price of hard drives gradually leads to an increase in the popularity of the first (it is clear that the price is not the only factor, but one of the main ones).
Below is the price reduction for the most popular models of drives from famous manufacturers. Prices fell and fall, including both budget models and corporate ones.
