In the Netherlands, propose to legalize DDoS attacks

The Dutch left-liberal political party Democrats 66 proposes to legalize DDoS attacks . The party insists that this is the same legitimate form of protest as a picket, strike or demonstration. The representative of the party Kees Verhoeven believes that such legalization is possible if the protesters are obliged to agree on the time and timing of the online protest action in advance, as is done in the case of traditional protest actions.

Political DDoS attacks are becoming an increasingly common form of protest on the Internet. Thanks to such tools as LOIC , anyone can participate in them. Today in the Netherlands, as in many other countries, participation in a DDoS attack is prosecuted by law as a deliberate disruption of computer systems. “Democrats 66” do not specify by what criteria legal and illegal DDoS will differ, whether using botnets and other “special tools” will be considered a crime if the victim was warned in advance about the action, or the activists will have to act exclusively manually.

If it is assumed that at least a limited set of tools, such as the JavaScript version of LOIC, will be allowed, then we are talking about the actual legalization of certain forms of cyber weapons.
