It is clear that everyone is already tired of the news about how the next development team has collected a lot of money to develop a remake of the next classic game. Now we will talk a little bit about something else - about the relatively well-known star of the frontend, web developer, CSS evangelist and author of the popular
CSS-tricks.com website Chris Koyere. He decided to raise money for the redesign of his offspring, and he wants to record the process itself in the form of educational screencasts and provide them to everyone who supports it.

Just yesterday, he uploaded a
project to kickstarter.com (hereinafter - translation):
Great guys, I have important news. First, I leave my current job to devote myself entirely to CSS-Tricks.com. Secondly, I will do a complete (and best) redesign. And the idea came to me - why do this, hiding from the rest? Instead, I will write down the whole process and lay it out in the form of screencasts. The general plan is:
')
- I completely change the design of CSS-tricks.com
- I create a set of training materials, recording the whole process in the form of screencasts
- If you help my project on Kickstarter, you will get access to these screencasts and not only!
You ask me why I do this? Yes, there are a lot of reasons! The main one is that this redesign will help the site to further carry out its task - to help web designers and web developers. The new site will be more beautiful, more convenient, more interesting, etc.
Here are just a small part of what will be in screencasts:
- Basics of web design
- Writing semantically correct HTML and HTML5
- Work with WordPress, creating a customizable theme
- Work with CSS and CSS3
- Effective web development
- Adaptive design and difficulties in creating it
- Work with Sass, Compass and CodeKit
- Work with JavaScript and jQuery
- Working with version control system (git) launching the application on the server
- Right monetization decisions
All screencasts and resources used will be available on CSS-Tricks.com to everyone who supported the project. I will even write how to find them!
The initial amount that Chris planned to collect was $ 3,500. At the time of this writing, he has already collected $ 26,025, there are still 14 days ahead, so she may well grow up to 100,000 - not bad for a couple of months of work, even considering that he still needs to order t-shirts and overalls who chose "advanced" rewards.
I wonder if other developers and designers will follow Chris? Interest in distance education is now greater than ever, the Udacity and Coursera projects are gaining momentum, and many developers are happy to give their money to directly observe the work process of other professionals. Let's see what happens next, but for the time being you can support Chris - for $ 25 you will get full access to training materials.
