For many years, Parallels (developer of software for virtualization) is one of the active contributors of the Linux kernel (see the
Linux Foundation report for 2012 ). The company's contribution to the Linux kernel is commensurate with the workload of Google, AMD, Cisco and HP. Implemented:
- namespaces for the network environment, process identifiers (PID), interprocessor communication (SysV IPC), etc .;
- advanced capabilities for managing container resources (memory, processor, disk, etc.);
- “Freezing” the state of containers and resuming their work with a minimum of nuclear modifications (used for live migration of containers from one physical server to another) - project criu.org;
- support for network file system NFS in containers.
