Apple's iNotebook

After reports of the sale of the millionth Apple iPhone in America by early September, it was quite logical for Apple to expect new products that exploit the touchscreen theme with a distinctive interface and MultiTouch support. The first such product was not slow to follow - it turned out to be a “sensory” modification of the popular player - the Apple iPod Touch. However, it seems that the development of the iPhone theme will not be limited to this product - rumors about Apple working on an ultra-mobile laptop have already appeared.

According to Appleinsider.com, a source close to Apple said that in the past 1.5 years, a small group of Apple engineers led the development of a new generation of handheld computers - a modern version of the Newton PDA that died in the 90s. After the successful launch of iPhone, work on a new project using the same multi-touch technology has intensified. It is assumed that the official announcement of the novelty will be made in the first half of 2008.

Little is known about the ultra mobile computer yet. The source said that the device will be externally similar to the iPhone, but to have not a vertical, but a horizontal orientation. In size, the novelty will be 1.5 times the size of the iPhone with the same thickness, and almost the entire front panel will be occupied by a touch screen that supports MultiTouch technology and has a resolution of 720x480 pixels. According to the source, ultra-mobile computers should become the fifth pillar of Apple's business (after iMac, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV).

Well, the current head of Apple Steve Jobs is famous for his sensitivity to the requirements of the market, so the release of all the new products on the crest of the stunning success of the iPhone is quite likely. However, it is unlikely that the “information leakage” was unplanned - remember that in the period between the iPhone announcement in January and its launch in June, not a single live photo of the new item appeared, as is often the case with other brands of mobile equipment. Therefore, most likely, we are talking about probing the ground and assessing the readiness of the market for the emergence of a “big iPhone”. We still only have to wait for new information.
