Amazon will lower prices on the Kindle Fire to $ 149

Reputable resource DigiTimes claims that in the third quarter of 2012, Amazon will release a new, more advanced version of its Kindle Fire tablet. At the same time, in order to achieve successful sales of the new product on the market and economically motivate users for a new purchase, the price of the already sold version of the Kindle Fire will be reduced by $ 50 and will thus be $ 149.

The Kindle Fire sold today is a 7-inch tablet with a resolution of 1024 × 600 pixels and a price of $ 199. It is argued that by the Christmas sales season, this place will be taken by a new version of the Kindle Fire with more advanced technical features and a screen resolution of 1280 × 800. Digitimes observers also say that the previously announced release of new tablets from Amazon with 8.9- and 10.1-inch screens, respectively, which were supposed to hit the market in early 2013, was revised by the company and the development of devices has been discontinued.

This price dumping, according to analysts, is due to several reasons. In the last quarter of 2011, Amazon sold 4.7 million Kindle Fire, whereas in the first quarter of this year, sales amounted to only 0.7 million units and, thus, the economic stimulation of sales by lower prices should significantly improve the situation. However, another circumstance is added to this circumstance - the emergence of the Nvidia Kai platform, which makes it possible to produce low-cost 4-core devices, may allow Amazon’s competitors to also create price-competitive tablets, which will adversely affect Amazon’s business building its business module on selling content.

Also in the near future - on Google I / O 2012 - the appearance of the long-awaited tablet from the search giant is expected, the price of which is also unlikely to exceed $ 200. And given the powerful pressure from fairly good Chinese devices, we can say that we are actually seeing competition among leading manufacturers in the market, which only has a positive effect on the end user.
