Tests and Comparison
The performance of the Intel smartphone is not exorbitant, but the results are still impressive, given that its competitors are multi-core smartphones, especially with a proven ARM platform, unlike the new for x86 phones with non-rolling Android, against Linaro cooperation.

I want to separately pay attention to the fact that the phones use different architectures, and although all the
comparisons are not in favor of San Diego, it should be borne in mind that all the benchmarks were originally designed for ARM (and perhaps even were launched in compatibility mode), and significant differences and features of the x86 platform. Therefore, I would wait for other, more representative tests from EEMBC.
This is especially true in light of Intel’s latest statement that
Android is poorly optimized for multi-core processors . And taking into account the fact that, with the capabilities of Intel, it did not start with a top multi-core solution (although I was sure it had the opportunity) to triumphantly enter the market, but with a single-core Medfield, it can speak about the strength and capabilities of from Intel and prospects. The benefit of Intel is not new to the work and evaluation of multi-core systems.
Experience of use.
When will appear in wide sale, and also this phone in the Russian market, I think there will be a separate review, official release and phone test on Habré. Therefore, I will not try to do something similar, but I will tell you about what I managed to play with and what to see.
Immediately pay attention to common myths:
- Voracious, quickly discharged . No, the phone fully justifies the stated characteristics, and for everyday use it works for 1.5-2 days, like most other smartphones. Therefore, the combination of lightness and normal operating time suggests the possibility of further use of Intel multi-core solutions, perhaps for other platforms.
- Application shortage due to architecture . Perhaps now, under x86, there are not so many applications in the status of pre-built, but firstly, this is a matter of time, and secondly, I had no problems running any ARM code on it.
- Slow What do you run on phones? Compared to my HTC Desire, it is very smart. Compared to the Galaxy SII, the interface seemed quicker and more pleasant to me in its minimalism.
As for the actual software for x86: minus the android environment, it comes with the usual 32-bit code, Elf_i386. If you wish, you can build and run any linux program. It is very convenient for me, because If something is not in the market, then you can assemble without heavy dances with a tambourine and with adaptation to ARM. Perhaps also, there are craftsmen who will run Linux on it without any problems.
findings
Generally speaking, purely by subjective opinion, the phone in its price category is very good. It looks solid and confident as a business model, discreetly, but stylish. It will be interesting to look at the price and adaptation for the Russian market. Also interesting is the fact that the phone has not yet been released in the United States. Perhaps there will be significant changes compared to the European version, or even the division into another device / version. So, as now, in fact
, twin phones are models Lenovo and Lava for the Asian market.
