Canonical, which develops the popular Ubuntu operating system, has recently been actively trying to promote GNU / Linux to the masses. Ubuntu made an app store, simplified the interface, improved interaction with social networks, established cloud synchronization of their system with Android and iOS mobile platforms, agreed with EA Games and Humble Bundle about distribution of games through their store (in the case of EA, do not wait for Crysis yet) and Need For Speed, we are talking about browser games), and now they are announcing a contest for developers.
The competition partners are the manufacturer of laptops System76 and Qt Software, and therefore you can expect very tasty prizes. So, I'll start with the pleasant:
The winner, determined by the jury, will receive a System76 Gazelle Professional laptop (Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge, 15.6 "Full HD display) and a Nokia N9 smartphone. The second place winner will receive a System76 Lemur Ultra laptop (Intel Core i5 / i7 Ivy Bridge, 14.1" HD display) and Nokia N9, and the developer, who “came” third to the finish line, will cost only Nokia N9 MeeGo-smartphone. There will also be a competition of spectator sympathies, according to the results of which three participants will receive N9. Everyone participating in the competition will receive a Ubuntu T-shirt.
As for the conditions, then:
- The competition will be held from June 18 to July 9, 2012 (three weeks in total, so you have to write quickly)
- You must use the Quickly utility.
- The application must be published in the Ubuntu Software Center.
All conditions are published in detail in a
message on the Ubuntu site.
