HTC is going to expand the patent base to strengthen its position

Apple is suing a large number of companies, including small companies, and huge corporations, such as HTC and Samsung. It is clear that those who sues Apple, are unhappy with the situation, and try to strengthen their positions. As for HTC, the company’s spokeswoman recently announced HTC’s intention to acquire a number of patents from various fields. The purchase of patents includes such an interesting way as the acquisition of small and medium-sized companies for the sake of their patents. It is for this reason (more precisely, this reason is one of the main ones) that HTC bought out S3 Graphics Co.



This week, HTC lost to Apple in a US court. A month earlier, HTC won another lawsuit from the same opponent, but the process concerned a different direction. According to representatives of HTC, Apple has enough strength and capabilities to successfully confront HTC in the US (not only in lawsuits, but also in competition in the mobile sphere). But the company is not going to lose all the time, and is taking a number of steps to successfully overcome these problems.

In addition, HTC is now faced with another strong opponent - South Korean corporation Samsung. Apple and Samsung now own about 99% of operating profits in the mobile industry. HTC still owns only 1% (which is also quite good, I must admit).



It is worth noting that HTC is not going to conquer the market of budget smartphones in order to increase its own presence in some areas of the production of mobile devices. The company will continue to be engaged in the development and sale of smartphones belonging to the middle and premium class.
