Skype has been
experimenting with advertising in its client for more than a year, and today the company announced the launch of advertising, which will be shown during audio calls,
reports SlashGear.
Advertising will have to endure anyone who will call Skype-contacts without having Skype-loans or any subscriptions - in other words, those who use the service for free. At the same time, the company claims that advertising will contribute to the development of the conversation during the call (I wonder if this is the expression of outrage because of this advertising?).
Advertising, it seems, is not particularly massively launched. Now it will only be shown on Windows users. Skype describes the innovation as follows: “During the one-on-one audio call, users will see content that can inspire additional topics of conversation that are interesting to Skype users and highlight unique and local brands. Thus, you should think about advertising during communication as a way for Skype to create fun interaction between your circle of friends and family and the brands you are interested in. ”

When displaying ads will take into account the geographical location of the user, as well as his age and gender. If taking into account age and gender can be turned off, then it will not be possible to get rid of the advertisement itself. It is good that it will be silent and should not interrupt the conversation in any way.
UPD: Microsoft has
published to the advertisers statistics about the user base, which will show ads. So, all such users - 41 million, the average length of their conversation - 13 minutes.
