Civilization 2: ten years without restarting

Have you ever thought what the world of Civilization 2 will look like if you play for ten years without restarting? One gamer went through this nightmare and shares his impressions . The good news is that humanity still exists. But the result of the marathon - 1700 years of war, widespread pollution, endless uprisings. The ice cap of the Earth melted 20 times. About 90% of the world's population was destroyed either as a result of nuclear wars, or from famine caused by global warming, due to which there was absolutely no soil on Earth suitable for farming.

By the year 3991, there were three supernationals left in the world competing for the scarce balance of natural resources: the Celts, the Vikings, and the Americans. The game is well balanced, because every nation has all the technology, and no one can get the benefits.

Dozens of nuclear wars turned the Earth into an unsuitable place to live. There are no big cities left, the population continues to decline. Engineers are constantly busy laying new roads so that troops can get to the front line, and these roads are almost immediately destroyed, so engineers have no time to clean up the area from radioactive waste. Spies are constantly laying nuclear bombs in cities. On the roads there is a stream of tanks to the front line, so combat losses are almost imperceptible, new ones immediately come to the place of lost units.

The Celts, for whom the author played, changed the political system to communism, the enemies adhere to the theocracy. Gamer says he had to give up democracy because the Senate constantly imposed a veto on declaring war.
