CLANG, a game for fans of fencing

Neil Stephenson , a famous science fiction writer, turns out to be very fond of historical fencing. At Subutai, he not only sits on the board, but is also responsible for developing and producing armor for fencing.

On June 9, Stevenson presented his company and its game project “CLANG” on the Kickstarter project , which can be roughly translated as “clank”. A computer game designed to reflect as realistic as possible the battles with cold weapons.

The game is already in development, but for now it is rather an engine and a concept. The company is looking for funding to hire professional igrodelov, and turn the idea into a full-fledged interesting game.

For the $ 500,000 that the team wants to recruit, they plan to make a multiplayer game and manipulator for it, because, as Stevenson rightly points out, it’s impossible to realistically use fencing on the keyboard or gamepad. However, this will not be an MMORPG, but rather one-on-one duel matches.

The participants who supported the project are offered various prizes - from “thank you” for $ 10, to the signed trilogy “Mongoliad” (another project of the company) for $ 1,000, and even a real sword, a studio tour and dinner with the whole team for $ 10,000.

During the first day of the project’s presence on Kickstarter, he scored about $ 90,000. Of these, two donations already amount to $ 10'000. There is a suspicion that the project will be able to recruit much more than the half-million originally claimed. Then, perhaps, we expect a multiplayer game with a focus on fencing.

On the project page there are 2 videos that, unfortunately, cannot be inserted into an article on Habré.
