Windows on Macs: Not so rare

Yesterday I stumbled upon the killing inherently, but plausible, IMHO, Parallels statistics: it turns out, one-third of Apple computer users in Russia regularly use Windows on their Macs. Quickly interviewed his own environment makovodov confirmed this astronomical fact. It says here that in the US, “Windows” is needed for about every twelfth of the Mac users. A couple of things can be understood from the document and its accompanying infographics:

  1. In Russia, Mac users cannot abandon Windows, even while sitting on the Macintosh, and there are anomalously many such users.
  2. Even with similar Mac software, Apple computer users often prefer to use Windows software.

Another couple of thoughts and a big picture with the results of the study - under the cut.

Perhaps I will not dwell on how this is possible. Another thing is interesting: why Mac users ignore native analogs of Windows applications? The authors of the study cite figures illustrating the sympathy of makovods for specific Windows programs. 51% use MS Office and its open source counterpart (OpenOffice), 39% need IE, 29% of users on Macs play Windows, and 17% run graphic applications. If you look at the picture below, you can see that the same Photoshop - an application that was originally made for Mac back in the 1980s - runs almost a quarter of users on Windows.

Another curious statistics seemed to use BootCamp. 40% of users bother to reboot, and they drag Windows into a virtual machine. For the rest, see for yourself.

And yet ... Is the majority stupidly lazy to look for an analogue and use what it is used to? What is the truth?
