Not ultrabook uniform: different unusual laptops at Computex 2012

Ultrabooks on the current Computex - this is a clear trend. But they are not alone in the industry. Along with simply high-quality things, sometimes on the stands you can notice something completely unusual. It seems like a laptop with a touchpad in the form of a small display (Razer Blade), a laptop slider (MSI S20) or a continuation of the ASUS Transformer idea, not only on Android, but on Windows 8.

Razer Blade - this, according to the manufacturer, "the first real gaming laptop." There are several reasons for this.

The main feature of Razer Blade is a built-in special panel with ten adaptable keys and a touchscreen display, which is also used as a touchpad. The panel can be customized as you wish, but caring developers have already installed there, for example, profiles for the Battlefield 3 and League of Legends games.

The laptop was developed in conjunction with specialists from Intel. Inside the Blade, a Core i7 processor (up to 3.5 GHz), GeForce GT 555M graphics, 8 GB RAM, and a 256 GB SSD drive. The resolution of the 17.3-inch display is 1920x1080 pixels. True, there are few connectors: three USB, HDMI and a network port.

One of the main features of the Razer Blade is portability: the laptop weighs only 2.92 kg, and the thickness of the fully matte case is 2.2 cm.

The estimated cost of the Razer Blade is $ 2,799.

MSI Slider S20

A day before the start of Computex 2012 at the MSI stand, the inscription “the best ultrabook transformer in the world” already flaunted. Today we came to the stand of the company with a video camera.

For almost three years, MSI did not show anything super-interesting for the average user. For gamers, please. But the last bright product for ordinary people were X-Slim laptops, presented three years ago. The first such product in 2012 was the MSI S20 slider.

It is believed that the S20 is an ultrabook. It is noticeably thicker than ultrabooks made in the traditional form factor, but Intel has other requirements for transformers - they can be thicker. The exact indicators of the thickness and weight of the S20 have not yet been disclosed.

The novelty is known to work on a Core i3 processor and running Windows 8, the 500 GB drive is combined with a 20 GB SSD. The diagonal of the S20 touchscreen is 11.6 inches.

If we understand everything correctly, the price situation on the MSI S20 will not be the most fun: they are going to sell the slider for about $ 1000.
