Yandex doubled revenues and profits
Net income of Yandex in 2005 amounted to $ 13.6 million, and revenue ($ 35.6 million) (according to US GAAP, not including VAT). Thus, the financial performance of the company for the year approximately doubled.
The growth rate of Yandex’s business in 2005 was comparable to the overall growth rate of the Internet advertising market in Russia. The segments of contextual and display advertising increased as follows: about 60 million advertisers spent on the purchase of display advertising (+ 71% compared with the previous year), and the remaining 40 - on contextual (+ 120%).
“A year ago, we predicted a doubling of the market. And so it happened, ”says Arkady Volozh, CEO of Yandex. - Internet advertising has grown faster than other types of advertising. If in 2004 advertisers spent on the Internet a little more than one percent of the funds, in 2005 - already 2%. But so far in Russia only about 5 advertising dollars are accounted for each Internet user - compared to more than $ 120 in the USA. So we still have great growth potential. ”
