Steam for Linux. Soon

Back in April, Michael Larabel (resource Phoronix) visited the Valve office and confirmed that the Steam version for Linux is still in development. He also said that the project is led by Gabe Newell.

Running Steam under Linux also requires porting some games specifically for adequate operation under this OS. Sample list (in order of priority):
')
Left 4 Dead 2
Half life
Portal (?)

The only thing that previously did not know exactly is the approximate release date of Steam for Linux. Today the situation has changed.

Someone Joe Davison (reader of Phoronix) decided to simply write to Gabe Nyeyull and directly ask if Steam should wait until the end of 2012. Gabe sent a rather short but definite letter: “Yes.”

This means that over the next 7 months, Linux users will receive their Steam and several games sharpened under the OS. After that, Valve will begin to port the rest of the game.
