“Mobile” water cooling system from Hitachi

The Japanese company Hitachi has announced a water cooling system for powerful notebook components. The main advantage of the new product is its compactness: the height of the processor's waterblock, for example, is only 11 millimeters. At the moment, the system can be considered a concept. But according to the manufacturer, by mid-2008, some laptops (in particular, high-performance gaming systems) will be equipped with this solution.

Compactness - compactness, but the new “water” system from Hitachi has quite good characteristics. So, its main element - the CPU cooling module - consists of a plate with formed microchannels with a diameter of 90 μm for the flow of fluid and a pump pump. Performance popms delivers 400 ml / second, and power consumption - 2 watts. To dissipate heat into the environment, the developers used two- (for dissipation up to 90 W) and three-fan (110 W) radiator units with an integrated fluid reservoir. However, nothing prevents (except that the design of the laptop) install two units at once, which will be useful for cooling the most productive and, accordingly, hot systems. Another aluminum water block of the system will be used to cool the graphics adapter and system logic chips.

Despite the fact that at the moment the developers do not advertise the cost of the new cooling system, it can be assumed that it will not be a penny. This is confirmed by the manufacturer’s statement, in which there is a “promise” to reduce prices by standardizing the components of both the cooling system and mobile computers.
