tPOD1 - efficient heat energy to electricity converter
The fact that heat energy can be converted into electricity is known for a very long time. There is a whole range of portable devices that perform similar transformations without a large number of intermediate stages. But soon a device may appear, which will prove to be an almost ideal converter of heat energy into electrical energy for hunters, tourists, travelers and residents of remote regions. tPOD1 is quite effective - the heat emitted by one small candle (you know, such mini-candles in a metal lid, they can float on water) is enough to provide an LED lamp with energy (for 25 LEDs) for up to four hours.
This project was developed by Tellurex, which is currently raising funds to implement its ideas on an industrial scale on Kickstarter. In total, for the start of mass production tPOD1 need 85 thousand US dollars. 40 thousand US dollars have already been collected. ')
The developers believe that their device can be useful, first of all, for residents of remote regions of Africa. The same mobile connection got there, but sometimes residents have to walk several kilometers a day, just to charge their phone somewhere in a more civilized area. And now you can literally charge the phone “from the fire”. Probably, residents will be able to simply put tPOD1 somewhere on a dark stone, heating up to 70 degrees in the sun (and even higher).
True, the cost of the device is too high for an African - 69-79 US dollars will have to be paid. So while tPOD1 is likely to be bought up only by tourists, fishermen and other categories of citizens who regularly travel.
The video below shows the principle of operation of the device. There, at first, the girl is broadcasting, but the presentation itself begins from the 20th second.
