Google has applied to ICANN to register a domain zone .lol

As you know, ICANN still managed to repair its application system for the creation of new domain zones. The decision to create such zones was made several months ago, and now many companies and organizations are applying for the creation of zones that applicants consider necessary and relevant. Google is not far behind the others, which recently filed an application for four zones at once, including .google, .youtube, .doc, and, yes, the .lol zone.

The latter may seem unexpected, but Google explained why it needs this zone (an explanation was received for all other zones). So, with regard to .google - everything is clear, .docs - also, quite an active direction of the company. .youtube - video hosting companies in this area will create websites and services related to this business. Well, in the zone .lol corporation is going to host sites and services that are related to humor and entertainment.

Now the company's specialists are assessing the opportunities associated with this zone, and plan to try to attract users who may be interested in obtaining high-quality entertainment resources. In general, ICANN has no special reason to deny the search giant to register the four specified zones, so that these top-level domains can be expected soon.

By the way, ICANN should announce this month what zones will be added to the existing ones now.
