Court decision: Google does not violate Oracle copyright on Java API
So, last time the judge ruled that Google does not violate Oracle patents in its Android operating system. But it was not clear what to do with the copyright of 37 Java API and 9 lines of the rangeCheck code. Now Judge William Haskell Elsup ruled that Google did not violate Oracle’s copyright on the API due to the lack of these rights. The court decided that these APIs are not subject to copyright, therefore there is no corpus delicti. Google has already commented on this: The court decision is consistent with the principle that openness and compatibility of computer languages is the most important basis for software development.This is a great day for collaboration and innovation . The head of the Open Source Google Division, Chris DiBona does not hide his enthusiasm.
