Small robots copy the shape of objects.

A group of scientists from the famous MIT under the leadership of Professor Daniela Rus is working on the project "Smart Sand" ("Smart Sand project"). The goal of the project is to create miniature robots that can jointly create an exact copy of the desired object.

This is how it works (for example, with square robots, 12 mm).

- robots envelop the object from all sides.
- a 3D-map of the dimensions of this object is being built.
- robots are interconnected, forming a copy of the object.



The plans of scientists - to reduce the size of these robots to about 1 mm. Then you get a real "smart sand".
