The penalty for the wrong choice of keywords

An American entrepreneur who published incorrect advertising through the Google AdWords system was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of $ 2,000. Apparently, this is the first time that a court decides on the wrong choice of keywords and penalizes it.

The trial took place in the state of New Hampshire. The accused person was a resident of Portsmouth, Seth Traub, a private entrepreneur who, through the Google AdWords contextual advertising system, advertised “antispyware software”, the Spyware Cleaner program by Secure Computer, and used the keywords “Microsoft spyware cleaner”, “Microsoft antispyware "and others.

The court considered the case and decided that the entrepreneur had improperly used the keyword “Microsoft” in his advertisements, and also advertised software products that did not fulfill the task.
