Volvo tested the robotic on a regular road

Earlier news had already been published that Volvo was developing its own car with an automatic control system. Recently, this company, together with the Spanish company Ricardo (creating various kinds of industrial automation projects), presented a car with a robotic control system. The tests were carried out not at the site, but on the usual Spanish road, and not empty.

According to the information provided by the partners, the developed project provides for a person to be in the cabin, but not for permanent control of the machine, but for intervention in case of unforeseen situations. As far as can be understood, no human intervention was required during the trial run. In total, three cars were launched that drove one after another. The total length of the rob-mobile path is 200 kilometers.

Cars were equipped with all sorts of sensors, laser guidance system and data processing system. It should be noted that there were no incidents, the check-in went smoothly and without problems. Cars in the process of movement did not exceed the speed of 50 km / h (manufacturers decided to limit the speed), plus roboomobili kept from other vehicles at a distance of about 6 meters. Cars participating in the race "talked" among themselves over the wireless connection, thus distinguishing each other from the rest of the flow of vehicles.

The authors of the project have already reported that the automatic control system assesses the situation not only in front and behind, but all 360 degrees. So far, the system has only been tested, but soon Volvo hopes to launch its project in “people”.
