Australian posted a photo of the money in Facebook, pointing the robbers at the mother’s house

Yes, often users of various kinds of social resources consider that their “cozy zheszheshka” (Facebook, Vkontakte) are as safe as their own apartment is safe. But this is not at all the case - in some cases, a personal photo can be seen by those who should not see it all. So, wanting to impress friends, 17-year-old Australian photographed a lot of money (grandmother's savings in the grandmother's house), and put it all online. A couple of hours later, two robbers came to the house of her mother (in fact, where this girl lives), stating her desire to take what was in the photo.

The robbers had a knife and a bat. In general, the full set. After it became clear that there was no money in the mother’s house (at least those that were photographed), the robbers searched the entire house. After taking a small amount of money (all that they had found) and things unnamed by the police, the robbers left.

In the police report, which fell into the hands of journalists, it is said that the robbers came to the mother’s house precisely because of the posted photo. How exactly the criminals discovered the address is not reported (as far as can be understood, the home address was not specified in the girl’s account).

In general, this case is a bit like the case of an unlucky hacker hacking government websites and then putting it all online with a photo of his girlfriend. Hacker forgot about the function of geotagging photos, which was not turned off in his phone, and got caught - the police easily found the girl’s house where the photo was taken, and went through it to this fellow himself.

In general, all these cases remind us that the Internet is not as anonymous and as safe as we would like. And even quite experienced users do sometimes very carelessly.
