Smashing Magazine, a popular English-language design blog, abandoned the Like button, completely removing it from its pages.



As the authors of the site explained , they were forced to take such a serious step due to technical flaws in the button from Facebook: it was one of the heaviest elements of the site that slowed down the loading of pages.

Oddly enough, after Like disappeared from the pages of the blog, communication with readers became constructive, and traffic from Facebook, on the contrary, increased. This happened due to the fact that readers deliberately began to share links to the blog in their Timeline, and not just press a button. And of course, after the disappearance of the button, the speed of the site has increased significantly.
