SmartTripod - Robot Operator

Within the framework of the competition from Microsoft, which lasted a whole month, several variants of robots were presented that were capable of helping one person in some way or another. Naturally, there were prize categories, with a reward in the form of a fairly large sum of money. For the first place they were given 10,000 dollars, and this award was received by Arthur Veit with his project SmartTripod.

This robot is a tripod with a camera mounted on a self-propelled platform Eddie. The system uses not only the camera, but also Kinect. As a “brain” we have a laptop with specialized software (Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 4) installed here. The developer believes that his robot shoots video no worse than the average operator hand.

In general, this statement can be argued, but the project is interesting in any case. The robot follows the man, at a certain distance, and removes what needs to be removed. The result of such filming, as well as the demonstration of the project itself - below.
