Servispak Vista SP1 went to the beta test

As promised by representatives of Microsoft Corporation, Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista has recently left the development department and went straight to beta testers.

Since this testing is of a closed nature, and the number of testers themselves is limited, it’s still difficult to get complete information about the quality of the service pack. Nevertheless, some of the details still became known. According to one of the beta testers, the latest SP1 introduces several nice fixes to Vista. In particular, after installing the update package, the process of entering the system is somewhat accelerated, additional functionality appears in the built-in defragmenter, and problems with exit from the Hibernation and Sleep modes are fixed. In addition, when testing Vista SP1 on a laptop, there was a slight increase in battery life of the computer from the battery.

By the way, judging by the message on Windowsvistablog.com , the development team is preparing five separate “patches” that make up Service Pack 1, which can be downloaded before the final version of the update package is available.
