IBM banned Siri

It is strange that none of the habrawriters noted in the topic. Well, let's be the first :).

The policy of using our own mobile devices at work is often complicated by multiple security problems, and the Siri Apple Voice Assistant is one of them. In an interview with Technology Review, IBM's information technology director, Jeannette Horan, said that among other services on the iPhone, the employees that they can bring to work with them are also banned by Siri.

IBM fears information leakage through inconsistent data (and in Siri you can not only search, but also dictate text messages and email messages) - Apple has recorded under the conditions of use that everything is transmitted to the server for recognition and everything that users can say used against them belongs to the company and can be used not only by Apple for arbitrary purposes, but also by its agents. Simply put, all data is transmitted and stored on external, non-IBM-controlled servers.

Horan admits that this may seem like an excessive measure. "We are simply extremely conservative ... This is the nature of our business." But a few months ago, Siri raised similar questions from the American Civil Rights Protection Association - the amount of personal information that Siri's assistant collects and reports during his work seems too large (for example, he also collects the names of people from the address book - naturally for improving speech recognition).

In addition to Siri, IBM does not allow the use of cloud storage, such as iCloud and Dropbox, employees are also forbidden to forward email to external servers.

Well, as a bonus - Siri in Scotland :):
