Clodo Cloud Load Balancers

Load balancers - an integral part of a fault-tolerant infrastructure for modern web projects - are now available to Clodo customers. Currently, the functionality is in public testing and is provided free of charge to all customers.

To optimize the infrastructure for fault-tolerant work or work under high loads, it is imperative to use several virtual servers, reserving entities that implement each layer of functionality. For these purposes, load balancing is required.

If you need advice on the use of balancers in the Clodo cloud and on building fault-tolerant solutions, you can contact technical support or mail info@clodo.ru.

With the help of load balancers, client requests can be evenly distributed across multiple virtual machines. Distributing the load across multiple machines is extremely important both in terms of handling high loads, and in terms of ensuring the fault tolerance of the service through redundancy.

The load balancer functionality has been thoroughly closed beta tested for several months. For the period of public testing, balancers will be provided free of charge to all Clodo clients without exception. During this time, you will be able to appreciate the quality and benefits of this service. 1 week prior to the end of testing, information on the cost of load balancing services and pricing principles will be published and sent to all participants in the test.

Currently, Clodo provides balancers operating at the network layer of the OSI model, which allow distributing incoming TCP and UDP packets addressed to a specific port. Two balancing algorithms are available — a simpler Round Robin, and a more accurate least-connect method. You can also choose from three ways to determine the availability of balancing hosts. At the time of testing, balancers can balance the load only between servers in one data center. Also for the period of testing requires manual tuning of the servers entered into the balancing.

The balancers are controlled via the “Load Balancer” tab of the Clodo control panel. We will be grateful for feedback on the services: reviews can be sent through a special form in the control panel or by mail beta@clodo.ru.
