Leap Motion gesture controller - a new word in gesture recognition

This gesture controller cannot be called the “killer” of Kinect, since its tasks are somewhat different, but this device shows excellent results. The developers claim that the device recognizes gestures and movements is not just accurate (according to the same developers, 200 times more accurate than any similar technology). Thus, the gesture control system is put on a new, higher level.

The dimensions of the device are small at all, but it works with many types of devices. This device is connected to a personal computer or laptop via USB. The system then creates a workspace of a certain size, approximately 0.03 cubic meters. Inside this space, the user must work with the system. The accuracy of this system is really great - distances up to one hundredth of a millimeter are taken into account.

It is clear that the company does not disclose its secrets, but such high accuracy of Leap Motion is due not only to the hardware, but also to the software solution. The developers claim that their sensor and software can be embedded in almost any computing or home appliances.

Regarding the configuration of the control system, the user can adjust all that he needs, including the sensitivity of the device, the accuracy of the system and so on. In addition, several such systems can be put together to make the workspace more voluminous. The cost of the device is very small - only 69.99 US dollars. True, this device will be ready only for the winter of 2012, now the developers are practicing with the test model.
