MTS and Sony Mobile Communications signed an agreement to promote NFC technology in our market: Sony Xperia Sola, which went on sale in mid-May, became the first smartphone officially tested by MTS to support the service’s NFC payments.
The MFC NFC payments set includes a SIM card with an MTS Money credit card attached to it and a flexible NFC antenna. This solution allows the MTS subscriber to pay for purchases and services with one touch by simply attaching the phone to an NFC reader at the checkout, and when purchasing up to 1,000 rubles, payment confirmation is not required. To receive a payment, an acquiring terminal with MasterCard PayPass support must be installed at the point of sale - there are more than 425 thousand points in 37 countries in the world.

Thanks to a separate NFC antenna, NFC payments can be connected to almost any model of a mobile phone or smartphone, even if it does not have built-in NFC support.
Xperia Sola has several advantages that make this smartphone one of the most reliable tools for NFC payments:
- MasterCard official certification and test results at MTS
- modern NFC-module (PN65O) with support for SWP-protocol direct secure data exchange between the SIM-card and the NFC chip.
In addition to Xperia sola, Sony has already released two more smartphones with NFC support, which also received MasterCard certification - Xperia S and Xperia P.
Xperia Sol with NFC support is already available at MTS stores in Moscow and the Moscow Region; before the end of the year it is planned to begin sales in other major Russian cities.
