While the Raspberry Pi mini-computers are already sold all over the world (remember, their price is $ 25/35, depending on the configuration), the development team is not going to rest on its laurels. No, they do not develop new mini-PCs, but they are trying to improve the capabilities of their device.
Now the developers have presented a prototype camera for a mini-computer, and the prototype is already quite working. Soon the device will be already released for sale. It is connected via CSI, each Raspberry model has the ability to connect. As far as can be judged, a camera module with a sensor of 14 MP is planned for release (it is possible that a module with a less advanced sensor will be on sale).

All this resembles camera modules for old phones (for example, Siemens), which did not have a built-in camera. But, of course, here the characteristics of the camera are better than those of older phones. Sorry, no price information available yet. I would like to hope that the price for such a module will not be too high, and any owner of the Raspberry Pi will be able to purchase a camera if desired.

There are a lot of ways to use the module, including smart home systems and other similar systems. The exact date of the release of the module for sale is unknown, it says only that the camera for the Raspberry Pi will appear later this year.
