A group of fellow scientists from Brown University published information about the new 3D modeling system they created. The uniqueness of Drawing on Air (the so-called system) lies in the fact that it allows you to draw directly in the air. This requires a special stylus and an automatic centering device that helps determine the direction of the line. It is noteworthy that the “device” for air modeling is not a concept, but a real working prototype that has already passed the testing stage. 12 artists who took part in it, easily mastered Drawing on Air and were (according to the developers) extremely satisfied.

The system easily allows not only to draw lines, but also to determine their thickness and color. Moreover, despite the fact that the process itself takes place in the air, through the use of a “virtual reality device,” the artist feels that he is painting on an imaginary three-dimensional surface. Therefore, the thickness of the lines, for example, can be adjusted by changing the pressure on the stylus. As for the other functional features of Drawing on Air, the developers highlight the possibility of canceling actions, editing existing images and quickly returning to a particular action.
At the moment, the commercial use of the system in question. The reason is the high cost. But experts who developed Drawing on Air say that in a few years these technologies will become much cheaper, which in turn will allow selling (by that time, perhaps, a significantly improved system) at an affordable price.
