Google is going to introduce a direct sale of its own Android-based devices to consumers. As part of the planned changes, the corporation will provide some manufacturers early access to future releases of the Android OS. Thus, the corporation is going to reduce the fragmentation of the platform, which some experts have long warned about. It is worth noting that Motorola Mobility, purchased by the company not so long ago, will not become Google’s preferred partner in the field of mobile device hardware.

Previously, in partnership with any company in the production of smartphones, the word “Nexus” was added to the name of the device being created. For example, when Google works with Samsung, the created device is called “Samsung Galaxy Nexus” (the first Android ICS phone). In addition, the company sold its first smartphone, the Nexus One, directly, and this strategy did not bring anything good, since the price of the unlocked device was quite high - 520 USD (in USA).

In April, the version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (unbound) was already sold for $ 400. In the future, the corporation plans to sell untied Nexus smartphones from the start of sales. The change of strategy will be relevant for new devices based on Android 5.0 (Jelly Bean). According to rumors, the corporation is going to sell the Nexus tablet, developing it jointly with ASUS.

New devices of the corporation will be sold in their own online store, where devices can be bought directly, online. Buy Google-devices in this way will be able to residents of the United States, some countries in Europe and Asia. Currently, the corporation cooperates with several telecom operators, but Google, as far as can be understood, is not particularly pleased with such cooperation.
