Wozniak wants to see Apple more open

Steve Wozniak expressed a desire to see the new changes in Apple - an open architecture that will allow users to expand the capabilities of the platform and add their own products.

As is known, the closed architecture of the company has been the subject of discussions of various kinds for several decades. Wozniak insists on the ability to customize the software and expand the number of software and hardware as a whole. Doing this, by the way, since the 1980s.

At an IT event in Sydney, Steve said that Apple could discover the architecture of its entire product range — phones, tablets, computers.

He mentioned the possibility of publicly presenting a programming language for the iPad, which allows Steve and the engineers who are in solidarity with him to use the tablet to create new software.

Apple’s reluctance to do this so far only leads to system hacks from those who want to change something in it. Apple is still a very closed ecosystem.

The company's approach was quite different from Steve's views before. But he still reminded of himself and tried to promote his ideas. For example, the Apple II had 8 expansion slots (for additional memory, data storage, and other things) only because of it.

- Steve Jobs wanted to put only two slots. He was sure that all a person would need was a printer and a modem.

Wozniak separately noted that the openness of products should not negatively affect their quality.
