Scientists have created an artificial mouth

Japanese robotics engineers from the University of Tokyo, together with scientists from the Red Cross Hospital in Musashino, developed and created a prototype of a robotic ... mouth.

The model consists of a silicone tongue, equipped with three aluminum "bones" and connected to eight pneumatic "muscles", as well as from the lower jaw, which can move freely. This design allows the "device" to copy (and successfully) the movements that are required to create a sound. Just like people.

While the prototype is being finalized. Scientists plan to improve it in order to create a fully artificial mouth that can reproduce any sounds. According to researchers, such a “robot” may be useful for, for example, learning foreign languages (Pronons! Roll the tongue into a straw!). Or it can become an integral part of the speech therapist's office.

And so robots can be taught to talk as well as a human. Though with a French accent, even with an Irish accent.
