Firefox and Safari - Difference in displaying images

Flickr user darknesis faced an interesting problem: he took a RAW image and exported it to JPG using iPhoto. And got the following picture on different browsers under OS X (on the left is FireFox, on the right is Safari)
Firefox and Safari
If you upload a photo with an attached color profile, Safari will process it, and other browsers will ignore this profile. If you save a photo through the “Save for Web” option in Photoshop, Photoshop will remove the color profile and the photo will be displayed equally in all browsers.
Most likely, the image has an adobeRGB profile with a wider color gamut.
