The issue of blocking resources illegally distributing e-books in Russia is being considered.

This is reported by the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications in its report “The Book Market of Russia”. More than 50 large publishing houses and trading companies that make up the book union of Russia have already subscribed to it.
Two of the largest Russian e-book retailers, the Litres and Aymobilka stores, which also took part in the development of the report, offered to fight illegal book sites by restricting users to such servers. This will be implemented through the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, which will be required to require Internet providers to block access to such resources.
According to expert estimates, annual losses in the book industry in Russia amount to 3–4 billion rubles. This is due to the fact that pirates illegally share up to 90% of books. It is in such activity of Internet piracy that the authors of the report see the main reason for the decline of the Russian book market.
Time will show whether bans will lead to the solution of the problem or only to the transfer of resources hosted on foreign servers from Russian domain zones by pirates.
