VoIP phones are no longer a rarity, and in terms of functionality they are approaching modern mobile phones, often even exceeding them in some parameters. In particular, the Japanese company Sophia Systems has developed a model of IP-phone called Sandgate 3-P, capable of working on one of the three operating systems. In this form, this device will hardly ever see the light, since this is just a reference model, on the basis of which other manufacturers will produce their own original products. That is, they can freely change the appearance of the phone and its software stuffing, leaving only the hardware component untouched: a 624 MHz processor, a 2.2-inch QVGA display, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. The main feature of the device is the ability to install as an operating system one of the three most popular: Windows CE, Windows Mobile 6 or Linux. With each of them, as promised in Sophia Systems, Sandgate 3-P will function equally well. Which OS to install is up to the manufacturer. In addition, it is possible that someone will release a multiplatform machine at all, thereby creating an interesting precedent.
